The Utah Hockey Club re-signed forward Barrett Hayton to a two-year, $5.3 million deal on Monday.
Hayton, 24, was a restricted free agent.
“Barrett is a reliable two-way center who is strong in the faceoff circle and is a great complement down the middle to our high-skilled forwards,” Utah general manager Bill Armstrong said in a news release. “We look forward to having him back with our organization.”
Hayton had three goals and 10 points last season when the team played in Tempe, Ariz., and was known as the Arizona Coyotes. He was limited to 33 games due to multiple injuries.
The previous season, Hayton established career highs of 19 goals, 24 assists and 43 points while playing all 82 games.
In parts of five NHL seasons with Arizona, Hayton produced 35 goals and 84 points in 209 career games.
Utah is slated to open its first season in Salt Lake City at home on Oct. 8 against the Chicago Blackhawks.
